Post swim/run on Utö

Beat up to Utö against NE 5. 1 reef in main and self tacking jib. Only to arrive to Utö swim/run happening. 40 miles run, 5 km swim (12 deg C). What a nation.

A quiet morning.

A stormy night.

The season has not yet taken off in Nyköbing. Will be here a while: short dash back home then await reinforcements.

Öxelosund, fiskehamn. A fine piece of cod in the harbour restaurant. So probably stay here tomorrow . On to Nyköbing end of the week. Return to Germany for a few days next week: Brexit plan B (more later) and inspect ship's boy on his first birthday.

A sad tale..

Meanwhile work started on large extension to Lené university close to harbour. If we stop off here on the way back south will report on progress.

Bevel now secured with washer and new split pin. Have to keep an eye on it!

Spent the day in Kalmar, trying to sort out a Navionics issue. (More later). Meanwhile technical detail.

Rudder shaft. Shortly before Simrishamm  the autopilot clocked off. Hydraulic am no longer fixed to arm. Captain needs to tighten up maintenance procedures.

Slipping out of Karlskrona.

Quiet day in Karlskrona. U-boot extension to maritime museum interesting. Conventional subs now driven by stirling engines under water. Managed to resist brunch buffet, just. Skipper is still downsizing. Tomorrow round the corner into the Kalmar Sund for the long haul north. Will we meet ice?
